Cancellation Policy

We require 24-hour notice for lesson cancellations to be eligible for a makeup lesson. Makeup lessons are subject to teacher availability and must be scheduled within 30 days of the original lesson date.

For cancellations with less than 24-hour notice, the lesson will be considered completed and no makeup lesson will be provided, except in cases of emergency or illness.

Payment Terms

Monthly tuition is due on the first lesson of each month. We accept payment by check, cash, or electronic transfer. A $25 late fee will be applied to payments received more than 7 days after the due date.

Tuition is based on a monthly rate, not per lesson. This means that months with holidays or teacher unavailability are averaged out over the year to provide consistent monthly payments.

Recital Participation

All students are required to participate in our bi-annual recitals. These performance opportunities are an essential part of the learning process and help build confidence and stage presence.

Students who are unable to participate due to scheduling conflicts should notify their teacher at least 4 weeks in advance to discuss alternative performance opportunities.

Instrument Requirements

Students are required to have access to their instrument for daily practice. We can provide guidance on purchasing or renting appropriate instruments for your skill level and budget.

For piano students, an acoustic piano or full-size weighted-key digital piano is strongly recommended. Keyboard instruments with fewer than 88 keys are not suitable for serious study.

Practice Expectations

Regular practice is essential for progress. We recommend the following minimum practice times based on age and level:

• Ages 4-6: 15-20 minutes daily
• Ages 7-10: 20-30 minutes daily
• Ages 11-14: 30-45 minutes daily
• Ages 15+: 45-60 minutes daily

Termination Policy

Either party may terminate lessons with 30 days written notice. Tuition for the final month is non-refundable once lessons have begun for that month.

In cases of non-payment or violation of studio policies, Prism Music Education reserves the right to terminate lessons immediately.
